Does anyone know why they stopped playing WRS prelude/WRS before Let it Grow? And when did they stop?Saw my first in 76 I'm pretty sure I never saw/heard it performed in person.

Because it's kind of lame...and it's the meat of the song. I used to be upset but now I really don't care. It takes a while to develop, and I would just assume listen to Let It Grow.

Why did they stop playing St. Stephen? If I recall correctly, Jerry said that it's difficult to play and he got tired of it.

10-18-74 is the last time for the full Weather Report treatment according to deadbase.com.

I think for the same reason they stopped playing New Potato Caboose--to do even a halfway good job, they needed to do it often so all the complex changes were right at their fingertips. Let it Grow, by contrast, has a simpler structure, so it was easier to keep in the repertoire. Also, in 1976 they fit Let it Grow into second-half medleys where the whole suite would have been more awkward. Witness the killer sequence on 6-9-76:
